Good afternoon, everyone!
The topic of my speech today is “My Attitude to Pursuit of Fashion in School”.
Now in our school there is a hot pursuit of fashion. Some students live a very expensive life. They have the same hairstyles as their favorable stars and wear top brand of clothes and shoes. Some use expensive mobile phones.
The reasons why they do so are as follows. Firstly, they hope to look smart and special. Secondly, they want to win others’ admiration and respect. In addition, it makes them feel cool .
As far as I am concerned, we students should hold the right sense of values. We should practice thrift in our daily life because it is one of our Chinese traditional virtues. What’s more , it is advisable for us to donate some pocket money to the Hope Project so that those poor children in rural areas can return to school to receive normal education. Last but not least, it is the inner beauty rather than our appearance that makes us respectable.

Due to the abundance of the material goods and rapid development of civilization, people are becoming more and more particular about what they use and wear. An increasing number of manufacturers have focused on designing things that will appeal to consumers. Those who sell a lot of their products dominate the market and lead a trend that most people will follow right away. If their products do not improve, they are doomed to fade away. Why are so many people addicted to fashionable things? I think it's because they are fond of showing off . They want to dress themselves in amazing costumes and perform unique actions to draw others' attention. Actually, many people only buy certain trademarks without making sure that the product aren't fakes. This situation allows the market to be flooded with pirated copies. It can't do any good but increase piracy, cause unexpected losses to original companies and harms our international image. Moreover, following some trends can be dangerous. Moreover, following some trends can be dangerous. Some gangsters would like to encourage others to take drugs, have tattoos, and do things that are illegal and immorals. They will call people who reject these things chickens or cowards. Because of this, some people try these bad things to show that they are brave. This disturbs out tranquil society and make more and more young peoples, who are the future's leaders, descend into degeneration. this situation will go from bad to worse. It is really astonishing, isn't it? As for me, I also like to wear fabulous clothes to make myself look cool. But I am not a blind follower of all fashions. I decide which fashions to follow. A fashion attracts me only if I think it's worthy of my attention, time and cash. Indeed, aside from fashion, there are other meaningful things for us to pursue, such as peace of mind and being kind to others. I often say to myself, “Self-control is the true nobility. Why just plunge yourself into the pursuit of fashions? Why just be obedient to others' ideas? Why not be your own master?” In my opinion, as teenagers, we should acquire knowledge and do something significant for our society, and not just be snobbish pursuers of fashions.
Popularity and Fashion （流行与时尚）
With the coming of prosperity and development of China, it is no wonder that levels of consumption have changed as well. People now have more disposable incomes and advertising has emerged to tell them how to spend them. Pop elements are beginning to seep into the mainstream culture, as young people look to fashion more and more to shape their purchases. The pop culture nowadays is full of beautiful women and handsome men dressed their best. Young women and men see them everywhere on TV or on billboards so that they seek to imitate them. They want to have a new personality, changed from that of their parents’ traditional lifestyles. Despite a desire for individuality, many seem to be following the crowd in whatever new style comes along. The expense of this lifestyle can be high, as fashion seems to change weekly. As old pop brands rapidly age, new ones are thought up to replace them. The media helps with the spread of infomp3ation on fashion through reporting on celebrities and shows on fashion. The design of the advertising that is produced for these new fashions seems to pull us in and make us spend. Each day, we are told to become new people by the popular culture around us.
随着中国的不断繁荣和发展，消费水平发生变化也不足为奇。人们现在拥有更多可支配的收入，广告也引导人们该如何消费。随着年轻人越来越多地遵循时尚来指引他们的购买方向，流行因素开始渗入到主流文化之中。如今流行文化充斥着身着时尚的美女帅哥。年轻男女可以在电视和广告牌上看到他们，并试图模仿他们。他们想要拥有全新的个性，与他们父母传统的生活方式不同。尽管有着特立独行的欲望，但是许多人似乎都在新款上市之时跟随大多数人的脚步。因为时尚每个星期都在变化，因此这种生活方式的花费很高。但旧品牌过时时，新品牌就会代替它们的位置。媒体通过报道名人和时装秀来帮助传播时尚信息。专为这些新时尚所设计的广告似乎在牵引着我们，让我们消费。每天，我们身边的流行文化都会告诉我们要成为新人类。
Students Pursuit for Famous Brands
Nowadays many college students like to pursue famous brands. From clothes to mobile phones, even study articles like electronic dictionaries and pens, they are inclined to buy famous brands. Moreover, many students from poor families begin to follow this consumption trend as well. This phenomenon has aroused wide attention.
The following reasons can account for college students preference for famous brands. Above all, in many college students eyes, a famous brand is a symbol of sophistication and taste. They expect others to admire their high class and good taste. What s more, in modern society, famous brands to some extent are equal to fashion, which has a great attraction to young college students. Besides, parents spoiling their children helps form their bad consumption habit.
As far as I am concerned, it is irrational for college students to pursue famous brands. After all, most of famous brands are far beyond their consumption ability. Besides, it is not famous brands but a person s noble character that really makes him high class. Therefore, college students should attach more importance to cultivating a good character rather than pursuing famous brands.
Too much expenditure on fashion（花太多的钱在时装上面）
Nowadays, fashion has become the hot topic among people, especially young people.However, too much expenditure on fashion is good or not at all? Maybe, the answer is obivious.
People are born with a sense of beauty.It is nature of human being,which can be understood. But we shold make ourselves beauty moderately instead of too much expenditure. The reason is as follows.
First, we can't form this concious that fashion is everything.Seeking fashion with our purpose will take up your mind,especially for young girls. They will lost their heart on study and think what they should be all day long. Second,as for the poor family, seeking fashion is a luxurious thing.If they always see beatiful clothes are on other's bodies. They will be too eager to get money, which maybe cause society unstable.
To sum up, I think too much expenditure on fashion is bad for both you and me. I don"t mean fashion is not bad. But I think if everyone can control them in a moderate way.everything can be widely accept.
